About Formorey

Formorey is an editorial library for design entrance preparation. It explains what design is, how designers think, and how to prepare for entrance exams, portfolios and interviews.

Each article starts from one question and ends with one takeaway, so you always know what a reading is for before you begin.

Formorey (for-MOR-ee) reads as form more.

Most of what surrounds us is made for us to consume: the apps we scroll, the products we buy, the images we pass by. Design is the other side of that. It is the work of giving things form, and the people who do it shape how everyone else lives.

To form more is to take part instead of only taking in: to form a vision of what could be better, a design that makes it real, and in time, a culture.

Formorey tries to work the same way. Each idea is set in the shape that makes it easiest to understand, and each reading asks you to make something, not only to remember it. An entrance exam is why most readers arrive, but the aim is more than a rank: to leave able to see, think and create like a designer.

Some ideas read best as an essay. Others are easier to grasp as a process, a comparison or a matrix. Formorey presents each article in the form that suits its structure, and Study lets you move between those forms without losing your place.

Start with the Library and follow a shelf from its first reading. Save articles to return to, and mark them complete as you go.
